The last Friday before half term, on the 13th of February, we will organise Farsang activities for Primary again!
Farsang is the time of fun and feast, traditionally aimed at chasing winter away and invite spring with laughter and joy. Hungarians eat a lot of doughnuts and have fancy dress parties in this season.
On the day of Farsang, Friday the 13th of February Primary students can dress up as anything they want to. Traditionally Farsang is about being creative and making your own surprising and funny costume. It is not just story characters you can think about: you can be a Rubik’s cube, an umbrella or a microwave oven, if you want! You can even pair up with a friend to create a cooperative costume. Everybody can show their costumes at the Assembly, and our jury will give prizes in the following categories:
- The best animal/plant costume
- The best co-operative costume (with two or more people)
- The best costume made of recycled materials
- The best costume incorporating shapes
- The best food/drink costume
- The best historical costume
- Extra - Jury’s choice
- Extra - Jury’s choice Teachers’ Prize (for the teacher with the best costume)
- House Captains’ Choice: The best costume incorporating all 4 house colours
In the afternoon, there will be fun Farsang-themed activities in classes in Key Stage rotations.
