Dear Parents,

Welcome to this week’s Newsletter.

Extension update:

As I am sure you are by now all aware, we have exciting plans to extend the current Britannica building and provide some superb new classrooms for the students. The first part of the plan will take place during the half-term break in two weeks’ time with the removal of the current tent facility. When the students return after the holidays, this area will no longer be in in use for lessons, lunch breaks and clubs. Current tent lessons and activities will move up on to the top yard for the remainder of this academic year. We will be utilizing the gym during lunch breaks for our secondary students to have an area to play sport and continue to be active. It truly is a landmark moment in the history of the school to see this exciting project getting underway. As mentioned at the recent Meet SLT, I will continue to update you at regular intervals as the plans progress and are actioned.

Famous Opera Singer visits Britannica

Last Friday and this Monday, we were privileged to be visited by the famous Hungarian Opera singer Gabriella Fodor! Gabriella very kindly offered to help our year 9’s with their current unit of work, visiting their classes and performing a variety of songs from different musical genres. The power of her voice was amazing and I know the students and staff who witnessed her performances were hugely impressed. Gabriella also talked to the students about her training, education and even her diet. It was incredible to hear how similar her routines were to that of a sportsman or athlete. If you missed the original post, it is still available on our Facebook page. I would highly recommend.

ECA sign up

You will have received notice this week of the sign up procedures for the second round of ECA’s this academic year. There are a number of exciting new additions, including a knitting club and some useful revision clubs for secondary exam students As usual, spaces in several activities are limited, so I would encourage a quick response to guarantee a place.

Have a fantastic weekend

Kind regards

Neil McGarry
