Welcome to Secondary News

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Secondary News – it's been a good week!

The girls' football team had a fantastic day in Bratislava representing the school for the first time in an international competition, they did really well and played with great energy and enthusiasm. They are very new as a team and under the guidance of their coach, Mr. Turnbull, they will surely go from strength to strength. We're all certainly very proud of them. Thank you to Mr. Turnbull, Mrs. Haigh-McGarry and Ms. Morrison for giving up half their weekend to support the girls, these events can't happen without the dedication of our staff, so a massive thank you. Tomorrow the boys head to Vienna – this all helps with the school’s mission to develop global citizens! Good luck!

The Year 7s and Year 8s have started a paired reading scheme with Year 2, they will be going every week to talk to them about books and listen to them read; the Year 2s loved it and I’m sure the 7s and 8s will get lots out of the programme as well. Again, thank you to Ms. Pascual, Mrs. Haigh-McGarry and Ms. Wolland for making this happen.

Finally, I had the lovely opportunity to go and watch our KS4 girls' football team in action yesterday. They were playing in a tournament against a number of other local schools and, although they have had very little chance to practice, they gave a great account of themselves and came away with 3rd place medals. I was so proud watching them and was really impressed with the skill levels some of them have, Aniek clearly has Dutch footballers blood running in her veins! I was so excited watching the games that I forgot to take any photos, I'm hopeful there are some elsewhere and we'll be able to share them with. Great work girls and Ms. Kiss who was a passionate and vocal coach!

Have a lovely weekend!
