Congratulations to the Britannica International School, Budapest Class of 2024!
This academic year marks the graduation of the largest ever Year 13 class in Britannica history with 33 students, and we are extremely proud of each and every one of them. Some of them have been with us since Year 1, and we crunched the numbers: as a cohort, our Class of 2024 have collectively spent 221 school years at Britannica, which amounts to approximately 40.000 days and 240.000 lessons!
Following tradition, the day’s celebrations began in the Primary school assembly, where our graduates gave inspiring speeches to our younger learners, and each received handmade good luck cards from our Year 1 – Year 6 classes. Celebrations continued with a procession through the school, with our Secondary students lining the halls, applauding our graduates as they walked past on their way up to the Terrace. With stunning views over the city, this is a fantastic setting for our Graduation Ceremony, where family, friends and teachers gathered with excitement to witness this special moment.
Opening remarks by our Principal, Mr McGarry were followed by eloquent speeches from two of our graduates, Elsa and Kevin, full of memorable anecdotes about the class’s many adventures together over the years. Our Year 13 Form Tutors shared words of wisdom with our graduates, as did Mr Spisák, who was selected by the students as the guest speaker of the event, and our graduates each received their graduation certificates, pins and satchels to mark the occasion. The ceremony concluded with a toast, lots of photographs, the exchange of fun “most likely to” certificates organised by our graduates, and the cutting of the fabulous graduation cake.
Our Class of 2024 now begin their A Level examinations, and have all applied to brilliant universities around the world; including King’s College London, Imperial College London, the University of Warwick, and the University of Edinburgh in the UK, the University of Amsterdam, Delft University of Technology and Tilburg University in the Netherlands, Carnegie Mellon University and Brown University in the USA, as well as the University of Hong Kong. The courses which they’ve chosen to study are equally exciting and include astrophysics, electronic engineering, pharmacology, sport & exercise science, psychology, computer science, international relations, and business studies, to name a few.
We wish our Year 13s the best of luck in their final examinations. Their time here at Britannica has set them up with strong foundations for success, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to do well in whatever they put their mind to in the future.
Once again, congratulations to our Class of 2024 and all the best on your journeys ahead!
