With summer uniform now in effect, we're also taking a look at suitable footwear for our students during these summer months.
From the start of Term 3, with the arrival of warmer weather, summer uniform comes into effect.
- For our Primary students, this means that boys may wear tailored bermuda shorts instead of the trousers, while girls may wear the blue and white checkered summer dress too.
- In Secondary, this means that the shirt and tie may now be replaced with the school polo shirt, and navy blue tailored shorts may be worn instead of the trousers/skirts.

As part of our uniform code, our students are expected to wear black indoor shoes throughout the day.
From a child development perspective, footwear plays an important role in how the foot grows, functions, and adapts to everyday activity. In the early years, children’s feet are still developing, and overly restrictive shoes can influence posture, balance, and overall comfort. At the same time, many parents face practical challenges when choosing school shoes: they are often too rigid, too narrow, or become uncomfortable after several hours of wear. Since children spend a significant part of their day at school, their footwear should allow for natural movement and all-day comfort—without causing pressure or discomfort. That’s why an increasing number of parents across Europe are turning to barefoot footwear, supporting more natural movement while keeping everyday wear practical and comfortable.
What are the benefits of barefoot footwear?

- Supports natural foot development by allowing movement similar to walking barefoot.
- A flat sole and wide toe box help maintain natural posture and give toes space to move freely.
- A thin, flexible sole adapts to the foot’s motion and supports balance and coordination.
- Lightweight and breathable materials provide all-day comfort at school.
- Easy to put on, with no laces, making them more convenient for children.
Once children get used to this level of comfort, they often do not want to return to more restrictive shoes - parents simply continue with the same type, adjusting sizes as the child grows!
