Ian is a Humanities Teacher and Head of Years 10 and 11 here at Britannica.
Ian holds a degree in History from Durham University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from Leicester University. He also holds a Master’s degree in Education from Bath University and the CELTA English Language teaching qualification. He has worked in education since 2009, including experience in the Czech Republic, Portugal and the UK as an English teacher and History teacher. He is particularly passionate about encouraging students to think independently and to use evidence to form their own understanding of the past. He also inspires learning through an active and skills-based approach.
Outside school, Ian enjoys live music, playing chess and scuba diving. He also spends a significant amount of his time following sports (especially rugby and the Northampton Saints!), learning Hungarian and looking after his one-year-old son.
