Amy was born and raised in the City of Lichfield in England. She spent her school days getting involved in everything The Arts had to offer. From participating in school productions, learning drums, set designing, exhibition curation and generally doing all she could to fulfil the stereotype for ‘arty kid’.
She graduated from The University of Central Lancashire with Honours in Fine Art. She moved to upstate New York to work as an Arts and Craft teacher for 3 months at French woods Festival of Performing Arts. She went on to gain her PGCE in Art and Design at Birmingham City University before taking on her first official role as Art teacher at Bungay High School in Suffolk.
After 3 successful and memorable years, she wanted to combine her love for travel with her passion for teaching Art. She accepted a job at The British International School of Houston where she lived in Texas for 7 years. (Yes, she’s been horseback riding, yes, she owns Cowboy boots and no, this isn’t her first Rodeo). She has a real love of developing an appreciation of Art amongst children and seeing them grow in to independent, empathetic and skilled young artists.
In her spare time, you will find Amy with her nose in a book (mostly Sci-fi or Thrillers), exploring the city with her sketchbook or attending live music gigs. She is enjoying the challenges that come with life in a new country and remains full of gratitude that she has found her place at Britannica.
