At Britannica, our commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond the classroom as we actively support various charitable organisations continuously.

We believe in fostering a strong sense of community and empathy. On this page, you'll find information on the diverse ways our school community comes together to support those in need and contribute to meaningful causes in our local community and beyond.

Annual Charity Events

Each year, we host a variety of charity events at Britannica that bring together students, staff, and families in our community. Our annual events are a highlight of the academic calendar, creating lasting memories and making a significant difference in the lives of others, not only raising funds, but also raising awareness about important issues. The annual Brilliant Britannica in December each year, and our fabulous Spring Fayres in May help to support the wonderful work of the Bátor Tabor foundation, dedicated to provide life-changing experiences to seriously ill children and their families.

These annual events also often support various other charities, such as Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots initiative, or the Lajka Foundation, to name a few.

Throughout the year, we also participate in various local charitable sporting events, such as the annual Santa Fun Run or the Budapest Bike-a-thon as a Britannica Team, and look forward to welcoming you at the next event too!

Special Charity Projects with Local Organisations

Our school partners with local charities and non-profits to extend our impact within the community. In partnership with our PSA, we participate in various projects with local organisations throughout the year, such as the Christmas Angels donations appeal, shoe collection, and hygiene drive, collecting donations for children’s homes, maternity homes, and Homes for Families and Children in Transition throughout Békés County, Hungary with the help of the lovely Sándor at the Mental Health Association, our liaison with local charities in that area of Hungary. Whether it be a disaster relief fund, a health awareness campaign, or a seasonal giving programme, our amazing community always responds with generosity and solidarity.

We also regularly participate in the +1 Sandwich initiative with Budapest Bike Maffia, where everyone is encouraged to bring along an extra sandwich to be donated by BBM to various homeless shelters across the city, as well as the Sulizsák programme, where most recently our community collectively donated over 840kgs of unwanted clothes to those in need.

Encouraging a Culture of Giving

At Britannica, we strive to embed a culture of giving in everything we do. Through assemblies, workshops, and classroom activities, we educate our students about the importance of social responsibility. By highlighting the impact of their contributions, we inspire our students to become compassionate leaders of tomorrow. Our students often organise bake sales in support of various charitable causes too - much to everyone's delight! Our maintenance team regularly deliver old school equipment donations such as musical instruments, furniture or IT equipment to local schools in rural areas of Hungary who are in need, letting nothing go to waste.

Together, we can make a difference and build a better world, one charitable act at a time.

This page contains merely some of the ways in which we strive to make a difference in our community - follow our newsletters and school events for more details throughout the academic year!
