Dear Parents,

A busy week at Britannica, as we rush towards the ski-break in two weeks’ time.

Parent Survey

Thank you to all of you who filled in the parent survey during December. I have received back a summary of all of your thoughts and opinions. Over the next few days, I will be discussing with the PSA, a suitable time where I can present the results in full to the school community. Please look out for the date and time for this event. A sneaky peek shows that our wonderful teachers, vibrant community feel, British Education, teaching style and Curriculum are the things you like the most and our communication, classroom space and canteen facilities are areas where you would like us to focus on developing further. Greater depth and detail will be forthcoming in the next few weeks once I have analysed the outcomes in full.

A special event for year 9

Wednesday was a special day for year 9 as we launched this year’s options process. Any parents who went through a British Education will remember the excitement of being able to finally choose some of the subjects you do for yourself, as well as being able not to choose a few!

The ever growing secondary phase at Britannica shows the fantastic work our secondary team are doing and this was emphasised by a packed Auditorium yesterday. Year 9 and their parents enjoyed a presentation by Mr Barker all about the advantages of IGCSE and A Level qualifications when looking to enter prestigious universities plus a concise and very clear presentation from Mr Spisak about the options process at Britannica and the timescales for the next few months. I also had the pleasure of sharing our future development plans for the school site to a secondary audience for the first time. We are very excited about the prospects for our current students, who seem set to surpass academic expectations over the next few years and want to provide them with an even better learning environment.

Secondary parent’s afternoon

As mentioned in last week’s Newsletter, many things have happened in the secondary phase this week! Yesterday saw our secondary parent’s afternoon. I hope that those of you who attended found the information, discussion and feedback from our specialist staff useful and that you have a clear idea regarding the current progress of your children, our reporting system and grades and what the next steps are in their learning. If you have, any follow up questions or need anything further, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the school. Key secondary emails are at the end of Mr Barker’s section or on the new school website.

Have a great weekend, it looks set to be unusually warm.

Kind regards

Neil
