Parent Survey
Yesterday, you will have received a reminder to complete the annual Orbital Schools survey for Britannica International School. Thank you so much to the large number of parents who have already completed it (nearly 100). We really appreciate your time and effort and look forward to hearing your views on the school.
Movember
Thankfully, November is drawing to a close and I can shave off my moustache!
Although, I have been very grateful for all the compliments, particularly from the students, I am really looking forward to going back to a ‘clean’ look! A big thank you to Mr Fleming for organising and also all the staff who joined in for the full month. We hope it has raised awareness of Men’s Health issues within the Britannica community.
Snow
There are some weather forecasters predicting snow next week, so I thought it worth reminding you of our procedures.
The school aims to stay open, if at all possible. Any decision to close is taken with the safety of our students, staff and parents as the top priority. A decision is made as close to 6.30am as possible and then communicated via as many media outlets as possible. We send a parent text message, and also put alerts on our website. If in doubt, please do check the website, check with other parents or email the school.
The decision is somewhat of a lose-lose situation for myself, as if we do close, we receive complaints about not having any childcare arrangements for the day. On the other hand, if we stay open, we get complaints that we should have closed! A delicate balancing act. The children also all love a snow day!
We do rely on parents to make their own decision as to whether it is safe to travel to school, so would ask that a common sense approach prevails. The school totally understands any decision not to travel should the situation be potentially dangerous for the children. Thank you for your support with this and let’s hope it is a fleeting snow shower.
Upcoming Events
Open Day 1, Wednesday 4th December
Next Wednesday sees our first Open Day for prospective parents for this year and future academic years. The sign-up has been overwhelming and due to its popularity, we have decided to add two further Open Days to the calendar for 2020 to ensure everyone who wants to come does have an opportunity:
- Wednesday 29th January
- Wednesday 11th March
If you know of families who have missed out this time around, please encourage them to sign up for either of the next two events. The sign-up sheet will go live in the next few weeks for both to allow parents plenty of time to register for the event.
Brilliant Britannica
A reminder that in three weeks, on Friday 20th December, between 12.45 and 14.30, we will be holding our annual Christmas Fayre ‘Brilliant Britannica’. The children and teachers have already started to prepare for the event. Please be reminded that school finishes at 14.45 on that day and that there are no ECA’s in the last week of term.
