Parents’ Afternoon
Thank you to all the parents who came to discuss your child’s learning with the teachers for Parents’ Afternoon on Thursday. This is a great opportunity for a check-in regarding your child’s progress and for the opportunity to ask questions. If you require a more extended discussion, I would recommend booking an appointment with your child’s class teacher separately.
Parent Portal
Please do take the time to explore the Parent Portal and all it has to offer for download and also explore the features such as the links, calendar, attendance and so forth.
The Class Representatives suggested that parents explore the downloads area where you can find lots of useful resources such as questions to ask when reading at home, reading activities, handwriting support, phonics links and help mats, end of year expectations for reading, writing and maths…and so much more!
Click on the School Information tab and select Documents and Files. You will find lots of resources for download to help you understand the curriculum and expectations, and ideas of how to help at home.
If you have further suggestions on what information you would like us to share, do let me know!
You can find the parent portal link on the school website homepage.
Sad Farewell and Happy Reunion
It is with sadness that I announce that Mrs Csilla Csombor will be leaving Britannica to pursue adventures elsewhere at the end of March. Csilla has been an excellent member of staff and will be sorely missed by 2 Medway and all of our community.
I am sure you join me in wishing Csilla all the best in her future endeavours. We will miss her!
Some of you will remember Mrs Andrea Komornik as a previous TA at Britannica. She will be re-joining Britannica as the new Year 2 Medway teaching assistant and is excited to return to working with children and to be at Britannica again! Andrea is an experienced teaching assistant and an excellent addition to the team. We are happy to welcome her back!
Class Representative Meeting
Thank you to the Class Representatives for meeting with me on Tuesday to give feedback about the Parent Portal, developing the Home-School Agreement and developing the Parent Handbook.
As ever, if you have any feedback or areas you would like to discuss, please let your Class Rep know in preparation for our next meeting which will be in April.
Late Pick Up
Thank you to those of you who have already completed the parent survey for Late Pick Up charges next year. As I wrote in previous weeks’ newsletters, we are exploring developments in the Late Pick Up service which includes a minimal charge for using this service after school and clubs. To help us with planning, I would like to make one last plea that you take approximately 1 minute to take this survey. Thank you for your support.
Assembly
This week, was the 2 Medway with a Titanic and ‘Where the Wild things Are’ themed assembly. We also did some one-minute meditation and discussed developments in Student Council.
Ines and Alicja from year 5 also presented on environmental issues, which they planned and prepared for in their own time. It is such an important issue and it is wonderful that we have such globally and environmentally-minded children in our community, well done Ines and Ala!
Many congratulations to all children who appeared in the merit book. Check out the Britannica Facebook page for photos of assembly.
