It has been a busy week in Primary with the Year 13 Graduation, a short week for the national holiday, group photographs and preparations for Spring Fayre. There’s still been lots of time for lovely learning in class too.
Class News Before the break in Hungarian lessons, the children celebrated Easter with traditions like chocolate egg hunt, painting eggs and the "sprinkling ritual" (locsolkodás) in various year groups. Please see the gallery for photographs.
Gardening club is going very well with the potatoes and strawberries getting ready for harvest! Please see the gallery for photographs.
Here are some photos of Y4 Taw exploring how electricity works. For their first lesson, they decided to experiment and practice with batteries, bulbs, switches, buzzers and motors. They learned how to connect circuits and ensure that electricity flows around all the way around without being broken. Please see the gallery for pictures.
Year 2 Medway did some work on capacity. Check out the gallery for pictures.
Year 3 made graduation crafts and cards for the Year 13 students on their special day. They then presented them with their gifts in the parade on Tuesday. Good luck, Year 13!
Parent Portal
It’s nice to see more parents exploring what the Parent Portal has to offer! The class teachers have been sharing some useful documents in their weekly communication under the Curriculum section of the documents and files for download. I hope you find these helpful.
Also available are some excellent Maths resources, including the Calculations Policy, Maths Vocabulary and also the mapping of objectives throughout Primary and beyond. You can see the progression of what your child will learn throughout their time at Britannica.
To access these useful documents, click on the School Information tab and select Documents and Files then Curriculum then Mathematics.
Please do take the time to explore the Parent Portal and ask for help from me if you are having trouble registering your account.
If you have further suggestions on what information you would like us to share, do let me know!
You can find the parent portal link on the school website homepage.
Spring Fayre
Tomorrow, Britannica will host our hugely popular and exciting annual Spring Fayre. It promises to be a wonderful event with activities, food and fun. Students should arrive for registration in their classrooms (not the top yard) no later than 9.45 and the event will start from 10.00 on the top yard. It is a wonderful community event and I hope to see you all there too!
Sports Day
On Monday, it will be our Primary Sports Day. Children can come to school wearing their house kits and will participate in games and activities all day.
Due to our reduced facilities due to our exciting expansion, the activities will take place in the top yard, gym, swimming pool and a dance activity in the auditorium. Unfortunately, there is only space to accommodate parents on the top yard or on the patio outside the swimming pool, but you are most welcome to attend and remain in this area. My apologies that for safety reasons (overcrowding) we cannot accommodate you in the building. However, we will be having a picnic at lunchtime and parents can view the sprinting races and also attend the awards ceremony in the auditorium afterwards.
I know the children are excited and it promises to be a fantastic event!
Fire Drill
As part of our continued focus on keeping the children in our care safe, the whole school did an unannounced fire drill this week. All was calm, and Mr McGarry was impressed that everyone knew what to do and did so quickly and quietly. Well done, Primary!
Wonderful Welcome
Our Primary music teacher, Katalin Balogh, welcomed her baby boy Laszlo Matyas Roth last Friday. Mum and baby are doing well. I know you will join me in sending huge congratulations to Katalin! Please see the gallery for photos.
Assembly
This week, was Year 1 Axe assembly, and was therefore very high on the cuteness factor! We also did some one-minute meditation with Miss Lawson and congratulated our Stars of the Week.
Many congratulations to all children who appeared in the merit book. Check out the Britannica Facebook page for photos of assembly.
