Welcome to Secondary News!
Good morning from sunny secondary! Well I can’t believe we only have a week to go until half term, just a reminder that we have a two week break and will be back in school on Monday 4th November and it will be a Week A.
The secondary boys achieved a magnificent win against the American School on Wednesday so many congratulations to the boys and to their coaches, Mr. Turnbull and Mr. Roberts. Thank you to all the parents who help to make this happen and particularly to those who are able to go and support the team. It is always nice to beat the bigger schools, we may have to look outside Hungary to get some really good opponents!
Two quick heads-up!
Next Thursday after school is the Settling into Secondary event for parents of Year 7 students who have the opportunity to have quick chat with the Year 7 tutors. I hope you are making those appointments.
On the first Thursday after half term, 7th November, we have our first parents’ afternoon from 2:40 – 6:00 pm. We have introduced this after quite a few parents felt waiting until February was too long, and we agreed! Your children will have booking sheets to make appointments – if you let them know roughly the times you are available to come into school, they will make appointments with their teachers. My strong advice is select those teachers and subjects where you really want to check on progress, don’t try and see everyone, that’s not possible with the number of students some teachers teach. Reports for Years 7-9 will be out at the end of term and for 10-13 in January.
Finally, one of our very active mums in Year 10 Some parents of YR 10 would like to communicate with others in the year group in order to share information and organize events. Because of GDPR rules we would kindly ask you to send your email addresses to Szilvia Nemeth at szbnemeth@gmail.com and she will be in contact with you soon.
If any other classes or year groups would like to do the same I am happy to try and facilitate your contacts with each other.
That’s it from me!
Have a great weekend!
