Welcome to Secondary News – it’s been another good week!

Firstly, the KS3 boys won their tournament in Vienna last Saturday, they scored 35 goals in total and conceded only one, “different gravy!” as some would say in England. Well done to all, I currently have a magnificent gold trophy sitting on my desk which we’ll formally present to the boys in assembly on Monday. As always, this trip was made possible by teachers giving up their Saturdays, so thank you to Mr. Turnbull and Mr. Roberts, great effort!

The senior boys had reached the final of a basketball tournament locally and despite a valiant fightback towards the end of the game, they were narrowly beaten. We are still very proud of their achievement and look forward to more wins in the not too distant future.

A couple of pieces of housekeeping

Parent Portal

I sent an email to all parents of Years 7-9 inviting them to register on the portal, just a reminder that you need to register first before you can use the username and passwords I sent you, I know a couple of parents have had difficulty with this.

Joining the portal will allow you to see all the Age Related Expectations documents for every subject in Years 7-9, giving you a real insight into the curriculum but will also allow you to see your child’s progress once the reports come out next month.

We haven’t opened the portal for Year 10-13 parents yet, as there is nothing on there for them at the moment.

Canvas

Your daughter or son should have brought home with them a letter explaining to you how to join Canvas as an observer of their pages; they will have generated a code to give you and the letter provides clear instructions for registering.

This will allow you to monitor homework as well as see what children are doing in some lessons. You are only able to observe, this is not interactive for parents.

I hope both these platforms will help you keep abreast of what is happening in school more effectively. Always happy to receive feedback, particularly positive feedback but also open to suggestions!

Have a lovely weekend!
