Welcome to Secondary News – it’s been another good week!

The class of 7A is organising a thrift stall for Brilliant Britannica and we need your help! Students: clean your rooms and pack away all the things and clothes that are in good condition but that you don’t use anymore. We would love it if you could provide us with some unneeded and undamaged items looking for a loving new home. For example: toys, clothes, books, board games and so on. Parents and carers: This is a perfect excuse to clear some space and get your children to tidy up! All your donations will be sold during Brilliant Britannica and the money collected will be donated to a charity. Any items that do not get sold will be donated too. Please bring any goods to Room 11 before 8.20 in the mornings, or at break times, lunch times or even after school. There will be a collection box there. The sooner we get them, the better, as we need to sort them out by type, size, price, etc… Thank you 7A class!

In sporting news, the Year 9 & 10 girls' basketball team played in their first ever tournament and despite having had very little time to practice together, they showed fantastic spirit and determination being outside their comfort zone. Results didn’t quite go our way this time but Mr. Turnbull and Ms. Kiss have great faith in the team and are confident with more time together this team will go from strength to strength; we have a very strong pool of girls to draw on here, so watch this space for future successes.

I had the great privilege of watching some of the Year 6s presenting to our Year 13 History students this week. They were really impressive and spoke with confidence and real originality. I know the Year 13 students were ‘blown away’ by the quality of their presentations, so thank you Year 6, Mr. Phillips and Mr. Gould. I can’t wait for these students to come up to Secondary!

That’s it for now, the rain has arrived and there is even a threat of snow – big coat weather soon!

Have a lovely weekend!

Thank you,

Greg Barker
