Welcome to Secondary News

Well that about wraps it up for the term, the year and the decade!

A couple of sporting triumphs to report:

Basketball

The boys' basketball team won two matches on Tuesday and will now be in the next round of the All Hungary Basketball Competition – well done to all!

Chess

We had four students in a recent Chess Tournament and Manas and Manthan in Year 7 came 3rd and 4th, well done to them and thank you to Ms. Kiss for taking them. I have high hopes of our chess players and now that they understand the rules of competitions, I’m sure they’ll do even better in the future.

Stars of the Term

This morning we gave out over 250 Star of the Term certificates to our Secondary students and it is such a joy to see so many children being acknowledged by their teachers and their peers. Well done to all and as I said to the students “You’re all winners!”

House Points

From January, we will be introducing an electronic system for recording House Points, which we’ll be using for House Competition and for individual certificates at the end of the year.

Shoe Box Appeal

Thank you to all parents who have contributed to the Shoe Box Appeal for our local orphanage and also for any way in which you have supported today’s Brilliant Britannica – magnificent effort!

One or two reminders about things coming up:

  • Students return at 8:20 on Friday 10th January which will be a Week B, followed by Week A from 13th January
  • The Year 11 and Year 13 students will have mock exams from 13th – 17th January. Y10 & Y12 will have internal assessments.
  • Parents Afternoon for Years 7 & 8 will be on Thursday January 23rd
  • For Year 9 we will combine Options Event and Parents afternoon on January 30th
  • On Thursday 13th February we will have Year 11 Options Event followed by Parents afternoon with Years 10-13

That’s it! Have a fabulous break with your families and we’ll see you in the New Year!
