Dear Parents,

Welcome back to Britannica for the Spring Term 2020. We hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year break and have returned reinvigorated for the new term. With the students only having started today, this week’s Newsletter is a somewhat truncated version.

Meet SLT invitation

The second Meet SLT of this academic year will take place on Wednesday 22nd January. Please do make a note in your diaries. It takes place at 8.45 in the morning in the Auditorium. The main focus of my presentation, prior to the usual opportunity for discussion and questions from parents, will be the development of the school site over the next twelve months and the CIS Community Survey. I look forward to seeing as many parents there as possible.

Teacher days

Although the students only arrived back today, the staff at Britannica returned on Monday. It has been a highly productive week with staff completing online training courses, curriculum reviews, collating evidence and starting writing narratives for the CIS Self Study, planning for the term ahead, beginning their Year 10-13 reports and preparing for the mock exams. There was also time spent with Richard Hestor from the UK’s School Leaders Training organisation, discussing professional development areas such as ‘coaching’colleagues, building strong parental relationships and working well with teaching assistants. The staff really enjoyed the opportunity to reflect on our current practices and develop our school culture even more.

New staff

We have recruited three new staff to our support staff team over the last month and I wanted to introduce them to you:

Klaudia Kavalecz: School secretary

Dorina Bognar: School librarian

Renata Rajta: Marketing and Admissions team

I would like to formally welcome them to the school and wish them the best of luck in their new roles. Please do say hello and introduce yourself to them if you see them around the school.

Have a great weekend

Kind regards

Neil McGarry

Principal
