Our dedicated staff support our students in their education, from academic to pastoral, ensuring that their experiences foster a love of learning while developing their confidence throughout their time here at Britannica and beyond.

December 13, 2024 | Liam Redshaw | Teacher of Swimming & PE

Excited to have joined the Britannica team, Mr Redshaw is a fully qualified Swim England, and IOS (Institute of Swimming) level 2 swimming teacher, specialising in teaching beginners from ages 4 years and up. He has been teaching swimming for 9 years and has taught children in England, Spain and Hungary. Mr Redshaw's lessons are always kept fun with a relaxing atmosphere, tailored towards motivating the children to fully engage in the activity.

December 6, 2024 | Joshua Thwaites | Teacher of Science

Mr Thwaites was born and raised in the Southeast of England in Norfolk, living in the country for much of his childhood, but eventually moving into the centre of the busy city. He studied in Nottingham as a Physicist, winning an award for his final year research and dissertation, before starting his teacher training in Norwich. Since qualifying, Mr Thwaites has moved out to Hungary to teach at Britannica.

When not teaching, he is a keen photographer, cyclist, and has a huge passion for music, its production, history, and the engineering behind it.

November 29, 2024 | Jessica Miller | Year 2 Phoenix Class Teacher

After qualifying from the University of Winchester with a BA (Ed) in Primary Education (Specialism in Early Years) and QTS, Ms Miller taught in England and Wales for 6 years before starting her international teaching career. Successful years in Germany, Poland and Lithuania followed with the opportunity to lead subjects such as PE, Computing, History and English. She has taught across all year groups from Reception to Year 6 and is keen no matter the age of the children to make her classroom a safe, enriching and fun environment. Ms Miller is excited to explore Budapest now that she is part of the Britannica team. She loves reading, history and visiting new places and has been looking forward to trying all the delicious vegan treats newly available to her here in Budapest!

November 15, 2024 | Hannah Sweatman | Joint Head of Student Services Faculty | Teacher of PE

Ms Sweatman grew up on the outskirts of London, and studied Coaching with Exercise and Sports Science at Manchester Metropolitan University Cheshire, before completing her PGCE in Physical Education a few years later at the University of Greenwich. Her first teaching position was in Ashford, Kent where she stayed for many years and trained to teach Mathematics as a second subject too. Ms Sweatman has taught both PE and Mathematics to IGCSE standard, along with A Level PE. She has taught in the UK, Egypt and Kenya prior to coming to Hungary. Her passion for sport started at a young age with competitive gymnastics, which also, at the age of 14, provided an opportunity to train as a coach for the younger children. Her love for anything that allowed her to be physically active and the fulfilment she got through coaching led into her career in teaching. Ms Sweatman has competed at a very high level in cheerleading and rugby union, both taken up as an adult, however her commitment is now much more recreational. She continues to enjoy being physically active and will try most sports.

November 8, 2024 | Mr Hakon Osmundsen | Head of Languages | Teacher of English

Born in Norway, Mr Osmundsen has been passionately interested in languages and literature from an early age. He studied English and French at university, holds a Master's degree in Foreign Language Education from the University of Bergen, Norway and has worked at international schools in Gabon and Italy before arriving in Hungary. Besides languages and literature, Mr Osmundsen also has a keen interest in history and football. Outside of working hours, he can be found reading and writing in one of Budapest's many lovely cafés or stomping about on a long run.

October 18, 2024 | Mrs Georgina Tunn | Whole School Speech & Language Therapist | SEN Teacher

Mrs Tunn grew up in Manchester, UK before moving to Sheffield to study Speech & Language Therapy at university. After graduating as a qualified Speech & Language Therapist, she worked within the English National Health Service for 4 years with children and young people. She supported children age 2-18 with their speech, language and communication skills in schools, nurseries, health centres and at their homes. She has also worked with children and young people in a variety of voluntary roles, such as supporting and mentoring young people with additional needs and also teenagers in the foster care system

Mrs Tunn moved to Budapest in 2020 with her Hungarian husband and since then has worked as a teacher's assistant in an international kindergarten and as a Speech & Language Therapist for children in schools. She is passionate about working together with parents and teachers to create environments which support the pupils to maximise their communication potential. Ms Tunn loves working with all of the pupils, staff and parents at Britannica and is delighted to join the SEN team to continue to be a part of the inclusive and supportive community here

In her free time, she enjoys dancing, arts and crafts, swimming, admiring flowers and gardens, going to coffee shops, and visiting new places on the train. She has been learning Hungarian for 5 years now.

October 11, 2024 | Ms Esther Seres | Teacher of Mathematics

After spending most of her adult life in the UK, Ms Seres has returned to Hungary to teach. She graduated with a First Class degree in Bilingual Education and soon after completed her PGCE in Mathematics at the University of Sussex. She taught in two state schools in the South of England for several years and tutored maths as part of a government initiative and also taught English as a Foreign Language. Ms Seres believes every child can achieve by getting the right support emotionally and academically. In her free time, she loves to travel, learning and speaking languages and has a soft spot for hiking.

October 4, 2024 | Mr Declan Clark | Teacher of English

Mr Clark is an English teacher from Bristol, England. As an English teacher he is passionate about literature and writing and will talk your ear off about his favourite reads at any given opportunity. His academic interests are in the Victorian supernatural and science fiction as political allegory. He also loves history, particularly the histories of Ancient Greece and Rome and continental philosophy. He has published some poetry and short fiction and is (very slowly) working on a novel. Mr Clark is thrilled to live and work in Budapest and to explore central Europe in his free time.

September 27, 2024 | Mr Connor Graham | Teacher of Geography

Hungary being the fourth country that he has lived in, Mr Graham is originally from the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. After originally working in law, Connor has been a Geography teacher for nearly six years after completing his PGDE in Canterbury. Having taught in secondary schools in England, Mr Graham was most recently the Head of Geography at his most recent school. With a university background in both Law and Geography, he is keen to emphasise to students the relevance of Geography in a modern, ever-changing world. Outside of school, Mr Graham has a keen interest on travel, languages, and photography.

September 20, 2024 | Mrs Ailbhe Keating | Teacher of Art & Drama

Mrs Keating was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. She initially attended Art College, earning a degree in Fashion Design and working in the fashion industry before retraining as a Primary School Teacher. Since then she has lived and taught in Sweden, Ireland, the United States and now Hungary. She has worked in a range of roles from class teacher and specialist teacher to learning support and EAL teaching. The role of Drama and Art teacher is one that she finds very exciting as it allows her to fully explore the creative arts through her teaching and hopefully pass some of her love of the subjects on to the next generation.
