Dear Parents,

Welcome to the final Newsletter of the decade!

Brilliant Britannica

Thank you to all the parents who joined us this afternoon for our Brilliant Britannica Christmas Fayre. We hope you enjoyed the festive feel, the chance to buy some Christmas items and the wide array of food and drink to sustain you through the afternoon. I would like to thank all our musicians and the choir who did a fantastic job entertaining us in the auditorium, under the astute guidance of Mrs Haigh-McGarry and Mr Kovacevic. In addition, thank you to my admin and marketing team for their organisation of the external vendors who offered us an amazing array of gifts, smells and craft items in the gym. It was superb to see how the event has developed over the last twelve months.

Celebration Assemblies

In a hectic final day of term, this morning, before Brilliant Britannica began, we had two wonderful assemblies. The Primary Christmas Sing-along is always great fun and this was then followed by the Secondary Awards assembly. We have developed this particular event to showcase the progress, achievement and effort of our Secondary students in all subjects over this term. Well done to all the winners this term and good luck next time if you did not quite make it this time around, I am sure you were not far away! I would like to thank Miss Bilski for taking the lead in the Primary assembly, she always does a fantastic job in getting everyone involved and also for the faculty and Key Stage heads in Secondary for coordinating and presenting the Secondary awards.

Orbital Parent Survey: Last Chance!!

The parents survey has been open for nearly a month and we have received a great response so far, thank you to all those who have completed it. If you have not done so already, now is the time, as the survey will be closing in three days. You will have received several messages from the school over the last month including the link, please just click to complete!

On the subject of surveys, early next term, we will be sending out our Council of International Schools (CIS) community survey. This is the starting point for the next phase of our re-accreditation process. As you will know from previous additions, we received an excellent report after the accreditation team’s visit last September. They will be back for a full team visit next November and this is the start of the preparation for this. There will be further opportunities for parents to get involved as we go through the next twelve months. Thank you in advance for your willingness to support the school.

An early invite

The second Meet SLT of this academic year will take place on Wednesday 22nd January. Please do make a note in your diaries. It starts at 8.45 in the morning in the Auditorium. The main focus of my presentation, prior to the usual opportunity for discussion and questions from parents, will be the development of the school site over the next twelve months. I look forward to seeing as many parents there as possible.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

I would like to wish all students, parents and staff of Britannica International School a fabulous Christmas and a wonderful new year. Safe travels if you going to see friends and family around the globe and we look forward to seeing you all back at Britannica International School on Friday 10th January 2020, at 8.20 as usual. It promises to be an exciting year!

Kind regards,

Neil McGarry
