Class News

Y3 Stour children have been solving multiplication problems using arrays in their Maths lesson. Please see the gallery for pictures.

KS1 have enjoyed their first week of buddy reading with KS3 students this week. It was lovely to hear the beautiful reading, great discussions and overall excitement in each classroom! They can't wait for next week! Please see the gallery for pictures.

Year 6 have received training on peer mediation and have defined conflict and resolution, discussed what causes conflict, what makes a good mediator, stages of mediation and have participated in role play. Please see the gallery for pictures.

Children in Y5 Teme acted as teacher in maths to help others with multiplying fractions.

Anti-bullying Week

Across Primary, children have been doing activities and having discussions around bullying this week, such as the causes, the effect and how to prevent it happening. These activities help to raise awareness, empower our children to speak up and make our school a more pleasant place to be. Please see the gallery for some pictures of activities.

Odd Socks Day

On Tuesday, Primary celebrated Odd Socks Day as part of Anti-Bullying Week! This was an opportunity to encourage children to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique. Most importantly, it was fun and helped to raise awareness of bullying.

We raised over 35.000HUF to donate to the Step by Step charity, supporting young people with Cerebral Palsy.

Many thanks to Miss Roberts for organising Anti-bullying Week and Odd Socks Day!

Paired Reading

Last Friday some of our Year 7 and 8s volunteered to do Paired reading with Year 1. This Monday, the whole of Year 7 got together with Year 2 for some lovely paired reading time. This is going to be a weekly event and is a huge hit with everyone involved! The Year 1s and 2s adore their big friends who help them so much with their reading!

Many thanks to Ms Pascual, Miss Wolland and our KS1 teachers for arranging this wonderful project!

Parent Portal

The Parent Portal continues to be a good way to access a wealth of resources to help you understand what your children are doing at school, plus what you can do at home to help them.

While it can be tricky initially to register, please do persevere and ask for help if necessary as I am sure you will find it very useful!

The CAT4 parent workshop files have now been uploaded under ‘Events and Workshops’ have now been onto the Parent Portal. You can find them at the below pathway:

School Information – Document and Files – Events and Workshops – Workshops – CAT4 Year 3 Parent Workshop

As always, if you find any information missing or unclear, do either let me or your class representative know so we can continually improve what we communicate and do.

Mental Maths, Calculations and Problem Solving Parent Workshop

On Thursday, Mr Kyle ran a parent workshop on mental maths, calculations and problem solving. The strategies were demonstrated by our wonderful student councillors. Thank you to everyone who attended – I hope the session was useful. Thank you also to Mr Kyle for running the session!

The workshop will be available on the Parent Portal shortly and I will send the pathway in the next newsletter.

Assembly

This week, assembly was by Miss Roberts on Anti-bullying. We were also visited by the Step by Step Association to receive the funds raised by Odd Socks Day.

Many congratulations to all of our stars of the week - you can find their pictures and reasons for receiving them in the display in reception.

Congratulations also for those children who appeared in the Merit Book – please feel free to flick through the golden pages; the book is stored outside the Primary Office and parents are encouraged to take a look – it does make your children proud!
