It has been a busy week in Primary Book Week, a Year 3 Trip and a Dress Up Day. There has also been lots of time for lovely learning in classes too.
Class News This week Year 3 were presenting their projects they prepared for our Viking tropic. Please see the gallery for pictures.
Year 3 also went on a fantastic trip to Csopa and had an amazing time! See the gallery for pictures.
Parent Portal
It’s nice to see more parents exploring what the Parent Portal has to offer! The class teachers have been sharing some useful documents in their weekly communication under the Curriculum section of the documents and files for download. I hope you find these helpful.
Also available are school policies, including the updated (text only) Parent Handbook draft.
To access this useful document, click on the School Information tab and select Documents and Files then Policies then Parent Handbook.
If you can see any information missing from the handbook, then please let me know so that we can keep parents fully informed on the procedures at Britannica, or tell your Class Representative for discussion in our next meeting.
Please do take the time to explore the Parent Portal and ask for help from me if you are having trouble registering your account.
If you have further suggestions on what information you would like us to share, do let me know!
You can find the parent portal link on the school website homepage.
Activities for Spring Break
With Spring break starting next week, you may be looking for things to do with your children and also take advantage of the improvement to the weather with things to do outside. Please find a grid of activities that may be fun for you to do this Easter break – I know I will be trying some with Eve!
Book Week and Book Character Dress Up Day
The classrooms, corridors and library have been filled with the sounds of excited children searching for teacher book recommendations on their book hunt, listening to parent readers and doing book quizzes and activities in class, including a class swap with a partner class. The children loved reading to each other so much, the teachers have vowed to continue next term with more partnerships planned.
It was lovely to see so many book character costumes on show today! Please see the gallery for photos and of a selection of our Extreme Readers, also on display in the Primary Corridor.
I hope that your child has been enthused about reading and has enjoyed Book Week.
A huge thank you must go to Mr Hudspith for his organisation and inspiration this week. Thank you for organising Book Week, Mr Hudspith!
PE and Swimming
We have had a number of children sitting out from PE and Swimming lessons over the last couple of weeks. With some injuries and illnesses, this is important. However, it is worth noting that some physical exercise can be a good remedy for colds and sniffles and it is not necessary to sit out in these circumstances. For extended absences from these important curriculum areas, a doctor’s note is required.
Photographs
There will be school photographs on Tuesday 16th April. Please make sure that your child has the correct summer uniform and is looking neat and lovely for this day, as the photographs will appear in the yearbook. Please see the website for details on ordering uniforms.
No Nuts
Please remember that we are a no nuts school. This is because we do have children present with nut allergies which could have serious consequences if they come into contact with even a trace of nuts. Please do not send nuts or products that contain nuts. This includes fruit and nut chocolate, nut sprinkles on cakes for birthdays and nut spreads. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all of our children safe.
Assembly
This week, was the Book Character Dress Up Assembly, led by Mr Hudspith. The children looked amazing and had a wonderful time! We also had Mrs Katona from the Spring Fayre charity, Fészek Alapítvány, come to tell our children where the money raised from Spring Fayre will go and the good work it will do. We also did some one-minute meditation with Ms Bogi.
Many congratulations to all children who appeared in the merit book. Check out the Britannica Facebook page for photos of assembly.
