Message from Mr. Greg Barker

Good afternoon and welcome to 2019!

I very happy to report a very orderly start to the new year, uniform looking tip top and lots of enthusiastic students happy to be back at school and raring to go.

At the moment we are in the middle of the mock exams with our iGCSE and A level students, we wish them well at this stressful time for them, and parents also I suspect!

I’m pleased to report that despite the snow, attendance for the exams has been exceedingly high and we are grateful for all your efforts to get your children to school ready for these exams. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss the results with teachers on Thursday 31st January at the Parents Afternoon, a good chance to ensure we are all doing what we need to maximise success in the summer. I look forward to seeing as many of you there as can make it, we know how important these next few months are!

Please note also, parents of Year 9, we will be holding an event on Wednesday 30th January to help you and your children make a really informed choice about iGCSE. We will be letting you know about iGCSE and A Level, about why these qualifications remain the ‘gold-standard’ across the globe and how to select the best course for each student. There will be an opportunity to speak with every teacher about their subjects and other colleagues will be available to give general careers guidance. I look forward to seeing all parents there if possible.

The term started with a lovely assembly organised by the Year 9 French students under the guidance of Madame Jenkins, the theme was French speaking countries in different parts of the world.

Thank you to Indu, Feri, Anwen, Rishi, Yasmina, David and Lizzi for all their hard work and effort ! All students enjoyed taking part in the song and Kahoot activity.

I’m looking forward to another great term here in the Secondary school and I wish you and families a happy and prosperous New Year.
