Secondary News
Welcome to Secondary news
I was out of school for the first three days of this week, I was inspecting an international school in Bahrain, which was very interesting and has given me lots of ideas for continuing to develop what we are doing here at Britannica. It was a little disappointing to discover that the secondary functioned perfectly well without me, I suppose that’s the beauty of working in a really good school and having very reliable colleagues!
I’d like to just mention vaping! It is illegal for under 18's in Hungary and if we find students vaping, or with vaping equipment, we will deal with it most severely. Please, if you feel it is appropriate, speak with your children about the risks involved and the consequences of breaking the law. I will be speaking with the whole of secondary after the break. Thank you for your support with this.
On a brighter note, on Wednesday, as part of the MFL enrichment activities, the Spanish pupils in Year 9, 10 and 11 were invited to take part on an after school trip to the Spanish restaurant Pata Negra. Ms Pascual and Ms Kitti together with eight pupils tasted some Spanish delicacies such as "pan catalán" (bread with olive oil and tomatoes, typical from Cataluña) and "pulpo a la gallega" (octupus in a Galician style, with potatoes and paprika) among other "tapas" (small portions). Pupils shared food and practiced their Spanish knowledge while having a fantastic time. The pupils called it a "brilliant", "worthwhile" and "tasty" trip and have already requested to try more food from other Spanish-speaking countries. This was a perfect way to wish our Spanish Year 11 pupils all the best for their iGCSE exams and in the future.
Have a great weekend! There will be no newsletter next week so have a lovely break!
