Primary Teacher - Year 2 British International School of Ljubljana

Primary Teacher - Year 2

British International School of Ljubljana

  • Contract Type: Full Time
  • Contract Term: Fixed Term
  • Start Date: September 2025

Are you a fully qualified, inspirational, and highly motivated Primary Teacher looking for a new challenge overseas? If so, you will be interested in this exciting opportunity to join our successful and growing international school as soon as possible in Term 1.

About the School

The British International School of Ljubljana (BISL) (https://www.britishschool.si/) is a growing British-style school serving students aged between 3 and 18 from over 30 nationalities in the capital of beautiful Slovenia, Europe’s “hidden jewel”. Classes are small and the students are eager to learn. BISL is an accredited member of COBIS and in March 2024 met all the standards in an ISI BSO compliance inspection. In a full inspection in 2021 the school achieved OUTSTANDING IN ALL CATEGORIES.

About the Opportunity

The role is to teach a Year 2 class, which will be split due to oversubscription. You will be responsible for inspiring and enthusing students in their development of knowledge and skills within the English National Curriculum. The successful candidate will be part of a vibrant and creative team of Primary teachers and responsible for delivering, English, Maths and Topic subjects as a class teacher.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, able to demonstrate a proven commitment to the highest standards of teaching and learning and student achievement; someone with drive and passion who believes in creating a unique, inspiring and outstanding place for learning, able to excite and challenge students of all abilities to make great progress. Applicants should also be prepared to contribute to the wider community aspect of school life, which is expected of every member of the teaching staff.

Applicants must have a relevant degree, teaching qualification and ideally experience of successfully teaching Primary aged students. Experience of working with EAL learners from a variety of cultures will be an advantage.
Because of difficulties in obtaining a visa and residency, it will not be possible to consider applicants from nationalities outside of the UK or EU. Family visas can only be issued after 2 years of employment in the country.

As a British school specialising in delivering the English National Curriculum, IGCSE and A Level to a diverse international student population, strong English language is an essential requirement and applications from first language speakers of English will be preferred.
